Thick, concrete stores arranged in a

manner to obstruct

Sometimes confine; rather define

the bricks carve out an identity

the boundary walls of the zenana

or a room of one’s own

the power of interpretation lies within

the walls merely stand tall

building foundations of individuality

But subjectivity cannot be rigid

Can we try to enclose the self?

The heart has walls; they say it is caged.

Explain then how does it fly away

on a single blow struck by Cupid?

These walls are merely imaginative

and the mind possesses the supreme power

to construct them or to break them down
